Upcoming Spring 2011 Anime Spotlight: The Blue Exorcist

I don't think I have enough time to do season previews, so instead, I'll just feature upcoming anime which I know (meaning, I'm already a fan of its original/previous adaptation) or highly believe (meaning, it's just my gut feeling) are awesome. Enjoy~

AO NO EXORCIST
青の祓魔師(エクソシスト)
Debuting on April 16, 2011
Humans live in the world of Assiah, demons in Gehenna. The two dimensions are not meant to interfere with each other, but demons still possess creatures in Assiah in spite of this. The humans who can fight these demons are known as exorcists. Rin Okumura is a boy who bears the curse of being Satan's illegitimate son. His foster father sacrificed himself to save him from demons. To avenge his foster father's death as well as to prove himself, Rin decides to follow the path of an exorcist.

=== QUICK IMPRESSIONS ===
Titles with the words "Blue" or "Exorcist" often catch my attention... much more if it indeed deals with supernatural elements *_*

Anywayz, yes, I'm already familiar with this and also already fell in love with it when it was pretty new~

My general opinion of it hasn't changed. I still think it's awesome and even if it seems to be following the footsteps of mainstream shounen (such as Fullmetal Alchemist, Bleach, etc.), it has deviated from a number of shoune cliches, and I'm always impressed with such series.

Ao no Exorcist is a fantastic supernatural action shounen series with good drama (it made me cry! Baaaw family drama ;_;) and a great sense of humor (blame Mephisto for majority of them!). There's a great variation of characters, and majority of them rock~ (I disliked the heroine at first but she later turned out to be very likeable =3)

My only major complain on this is the school arc (I'm really tired of the school setting....) but fortunately, school setting didn't last too long.

Ao no Exorcist is one of my favorite shounen series. I was really excited that it got an anime adaptation this soon! Yay! The staff and cast seem good so far~

=== FANGURLING ===

Some of my favorite characters are Renzou (he's the epitome of awesome, he says. Teehee xD) and Father Fujimoto (he kicks ass xD tough daddy FTW). Among the top would be:

Mephisto, because his limo is PINK, hahaha! And he's a really weird guy. And you can't tell if he has good or bad intentions, hehe. I thought he's gonna be voiced by Kamiyan... I wish it was true.... he would've seem more hilarious xD

Amaimon is another weirdo, but he's troublesome in a different way. Kakihara Tetsuya for him, eh? Yaaaay~

My top favorites, of course, wouldn't be a surprise to those who know me (or have read my first impressions post):

THE TWINS!!!!!!! SQUEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

OMG THEY'RE SO SWEET I WANNA SQUISH 'EM xD
Well, they're not the identical type, but they DO look alike. Especially if the younger twin isn't wearing his glasses~
There's brotherly love but it's not that...errr.... mushy (they're not as intimate as the owner twins, and neither as proud as the Elric brothers). I like it that they admire each other, and they're great in their own ways~ And even if the older bro is often bullied, the respect is still there (don't underestimate older siblings even if they're acting more childish most of the time!!!! *an older sibling*)

It's less exciting for me when they're not together though. And I'm quite worried that they seem to be in a love triangle with the heroine... but no angst happening so far so perhaps it'll be just fine. (Go Rin x Shimei! Yukio's mine~)
Someone: Ahhh.... so it's more of because this is twins fanservice to you?
Me: Shut up!!!

It saddens me that this is not one of the most anticipated series this season (unless they're familiar with the manga.... many of those that are familiar with the manga ended up liking it, I believe). Hopefully the anime adaptation will do it justice (I'm worried on the series composition... and only 12 episodes??? Or there'll be a second season?). Ah well, at least I'm sure about the OP being awesome (I love songs done by UVERworld)~

Isn't Hiroshi Kamiya voicing Mephisto Pheles?
I think 12 epi is about enough for a manga that only has 6 volumes to its credit. BTW, the 6th volume was released only recently (i.e 4-Apr). Very much looking forward to the anime adaptation. :)

While I'd have to wait longer for Amaimon x_x
But oh, I've got my brotherly love early in the series~ Teehee~
Also very excited to see them all animated xD

@ aozoradream
Maybe I copied the info at ANN wrong... Kamiyan fits better as Mephisto...
