Manga Review: Seijou Kouchakan no Jijou

Seijou Kouchakan no Jijou
by Kumiko Suekano
(Published by Shonen Gahosha in Young King Ours+ (Shonen Gahosha) )
This tale begins with Shino who was in love with a girl called Maruyama. Shino asked his best friend, Akira, to set him up with Maruyama, but instead Akira betrayed Shino. Depressed, Shino goes to spend the rest of his day binging on cakes at the Seijou Black Tea House which is run by two mental cases by the names of Shuuji and Keisuke. Mix a magical tea leaf, homosexuals, and various other things for ensuing hilarity. (Taruby)

THIS MANGA DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE.

BUT THAT'S WHAT MADE IT SO GREAT BECAUSE IT'S SO DAMN HILARIOUS!

Hahahahahahahahahahhaha!

If you are strict with good stories or prefers characters with good characterization and has development, don't bother it is... because it'll just tease you that it will be having such but won't lead you to anywhere. The ending is the biggest blow because it's so open and didn't resolve anything at all. Not even clear to many things in the story either.

But this is a manga to be read for fun.... and the mangaka appears to be just playing around. If pleasure to fans is not yet that obvious, just check out the amount of perverted fanservice each chapter has. Nah, no censorships... except for the bottom parts I guess. Their libido is so high and relationships could either be hetero or homo... mostly homo... one of them not exactly homo. It's such a weird mix. Gender benders get the biggest delight in this series.... and funny that the main character is in a canon relationship with both a guy and a girl.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not exactly after the fanservice..... fine, except for this one:

Just when can I resist bishie doppelgangers? xD

*ehem* Okayz, you might wonder: If it sucks in many areas and you're not really fond of this type of fanservice, then why do you find this manga great?

My main reason is that it's a different type of comedy... and the ridiculously creative story had something to do with it. I don't mind the flaws since it's a comedy... and I believe sometimes things that are so absurd or crazy can make a story funny... and that's what this series is. Surprisingly, though many of the events here are so random, the manga managed to include some interesting twists! It gets me surprised! I'm impressed~

And.... I may be no fan of this type of fanservice, but I'm impressed with the blend of shoujo-ai and shounen-ai humor (It's so balanced!). I think this series could still do well without going that far, but well, this type of ecchi is better for me than those ecchi wherein all those touches and gropings were just "accidents"... guuuh.

I recommend this to fans of gender benders and those who want to try out something different yet fun at the same time. Of course I don't want to recommend this to kiddies nor to those with innocent minds ^^; Please keep your heads clean, not green. Haha!

I gave this one a shot, and boy you were right. I don't know the last time a manga has made me laugh that much, really! The amount of boobage was a bit too much for my taste, but kinda added to the wackiness of the whole thing.
Besides, those man bishies were very nice <3
