[ Manga Discovery ] GDGD-DOGS

GDGD-DOGS
by Tooyama Ema

[ Demographic: SHOUJO ]
Kanna has been trying to keep her being a manga artist a secret. Unfortunately, three popular guys... the type of people she dislikes a lot... finds out about it!
But no, revealing her secret didn't cross their mind. They have a favor to ask from her though: to teach them how to draw manga!

(3 chapters read as of the date this blog entry was posted)

POTENTIAL: C+ (NOT BAD!) FAVORITISM: 2.5 Hearts (NEUTRAL)

Motivation: (What Made Me Check It Out)
I've seen the "being a mangaka" as a secret for a lot of times though... ugh.
BUT IT'S BY TOOYAMA EMA!!! x_x
I love Watashi ni XX Shinasai to pieces. I also adore Koko ni Iru Yo. The mangaka's other works can't be so bad...?
Curses: (What Seems to be Bad About It)
This is the first manga I've encountered that actually has a school with a "manga" course. Too bad it didn't give much explanation on why there aren't much people its class (and the manga teacher doesn't even know manga? Whut. I understand random/weird comedy, but this is too much!!!).
And it would've been nice if the characters are more developed. It might've also been good if we learn more about the manga world in this series, not just about a mangaka working hard and doing what she likes.. and some arrogant fanboys, *sigh*
Praises: (What Seems to be Good About It)
Unusual set of bishies for a "reverse harem" series (no romance so far even). Quite different from other stories involving a girl that is a mangaka (or wants to become one).
Bias: (What's Keeping Me Hooked to It)
Bishies wanting to learn from a SHOUJO manga artist. Hahahha!
Fangirl: (What I Love in It)
One of the boys looks like WnXXS's Shigure... and his favorite is Aria magazine. Awesome, haha!
Nostalgia: (What It Reminds Me of)
Perfect Girl Evolution (introverted heroine with really long bangs... and can't tand popular men, haha)
Overall:
I thought this was typical reverse harem crap but oh wow... there isn't even any romance!!! (At least, not yet)
And the bishies are ANNOYING. Not that I hate them for that. They are jerks not because they're being mean and stuff... but more of because though they're very enthusiastic about manga, they're arrogant idiots and extremely freakin' minded. Haha! Oh wow, Tooyama-sensei knows how to make lovable jerks =3 Haha!
This has been refreshing, and quite hilarious! Seems fun but... not that sold to it ^^;
