Beck Live-Action Film Announced

Sakuishi Harold's manga "Beck" was announced to get a live action movie adaptation.

The original manga portrays the lives of five members in a Japanese rock band on the rise, including the charismatic guitarist and band leader Ryusuke Minami (Mizushima).

[ CAST ]
  • Mizushima Hiro (Absolute Boyfriend, Hana Zakari no Kimitachi e: Ikemen Paradise, and Lovely Complex projects) as Minami Ryusuke (guitarist and band leader)
  • Sato Takeru (Princess Princess D, Kamen Rider Den-O, Rookies) as Tanaka Yukio (vocalist and guitarist)
  • Kiritani Kenta (Crows Zero, Rookies) as Chiba Tsunemi (rapper)
  • Nakamura Aoi (Shinigami no Ballad., Q.E.D., Koizora) as Sakurai Yuji (drummer)
  • Mukai Osamu (Honey and Clover, Nodame Cantabile, Monochrome Factor, Mei-chan no Shitsuji) as Taira Yoshiyuki (bass guitarist)
The main character of the movie is Ryuusuke, not Koyuki (Tanaka Yukio), who was the main of manga. Thirty original songs are being written for the actors to perform with actual instruments after they undergo intensive training.

Director Yukihiko Tsutsumi (20th Century Boys, Trick, Ikebukuro West Gate Park, H2) will begin shooting the film at the beginning of July, and the film will open in Japan in Fall of 2010.

I've seen a few episodes of Beck and I find it really awesome! Especially the music! Story's pretty good too! I think the cast for the live-action movie is good! I highly look forward to this!

@Anonymous
perhaps it's because he's the main character of the live-action movie, instead of Koyuki. I don't have complains since Ryuusuke is an interesting character anyway. Hehe. And I guess it's also because it's easier to make the band leaders as main characters than the other members. Hehe.
